The role
The IT Application Operations Engineeris responsible for managing the stability, reliability, and performance of TFP’s applications ecosystem. This includes overseeing operational processes, swift and accurate responses to incidents ensuring high availability, and delivering dependable services that meet business requirements.
You will contribute to making sure our team delivers robust, performant, compliant, cost-effective systems and act at all times to make sure end-user service is maintained to the very highest level.
You will work closely with IT leadership and Users across business units to thoroughly understand and fulfil business end-user requirements. Strong resilience and rapid problem resolution are essential skills for this role.
Key accountabilities
Application Operations Management: Support, manage, and maintain TFP applications, ensuring they function optimally within the organization.
Custom Operational Development: Create and maintain custom features and tools to enhance existing systems, addressing stated application and business needs.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Analyse application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
Incident Management and Service Delivery: Lead incident resolution for data-related issues, manage SLAs, and drive continuous service improvements. Establish and manage SLAs, KPIs, and operational dashboards to monitor platform performance, uptime, throughput, and incident response times.
User Support : Provide technical support to users, addressing their concerns and ensuring they can effectively utilize the applications.
Process Automation and Optimisation: Leverage automation and monitoring tools to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and ensure proactive issue detection.
Collaboration Across Teams: Work with Development, QA, Security and Business teams to implement system enhancements and address known problems, ensuring that user requirements are met.
Security and Compliance: Ensure all data operations comply with internal security policies and external legal and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on MS Azure-native security features.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation of data operational procedures and ensure effective knowledge transfer within the team.
Skills & experience
Proven experience in Application Operations within cloud environments, preferably MS Azure
Exceptional collaboration skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Working knowledge of MS Azure services
Deep familiarity with application monitoring, incident response, and operational SLAs
Background in automation, performance optimisation, and proactive issue detection
Experience with service performance metrics, KPIs, and continuous service improvement
Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field experience
Capable of building strong relationships with internal and external parties alike, with demonstrable influencing skills at middle to senior levels
People-oriented – people management skills and experience of direction setting and ability to work across organisational boundaries
Ability to troubleshoot issues across a range of technologies (messaging, data, code, etc.)
Stakeholder-oriented – Managing and satisfying multiple stakeholders in a fluid environment, translating their needs to realistic goals
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data integration, data management, AI and cloud computing to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills with people at all levels of the organisation
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and organisation skills. Comfortable communicating with all levels within the organisation
