The role
The Group is in the process of repositioning the Exposure Management Team and Portfolio Management Team within the business to further enhance its ability to providing business insights to support management to optimise the portfolio. This role will be key in facilitating this by providing the wider team with more robust data to underpin these insights.
More specifically, the Data & Reporting Automation Analyst will oversee the end-to-end data flow, integration, and reporting processes that support exposure management, catastrophe modelling, and business insights. The successful candidate will be responsible is for design, optimisation, and automation of data pipelines and reporting frameworks to ensure timely, accurate, and insightful information for decision-making.
They will collaborate closely with business units, IT, and analytics teams to develop robust data quality metrics, automate submissions, and drive continuous improvement through advanced analytics and AI solutions. Key accountabilities
Reporting & Visualisation
Build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards to track exposure, submissions, and data quality.
Deliver performance reports highlighting trends and anomalies.
Design data visualisations for exposure management, accumulation monitoring, and cat modelling insights.
Data Flow Management
Own end-to-end data pipelines for exposure and catastrophe modelling.
Ensure timely, accurate data updates across systems and stakeholders.
Maintain full data lineage and transparency from source to report.
Integrate data across policy admin, underwriting, cat modelling, and third-party sources.
Data Quality & Governance
Define and monitor data quality KPIs (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency).
Automate validation checks and create feedback loops for continuous improvement.
Implement controls and dashboards for real-time data quality tracking.
Automation & Systems Integration
Automate data ingestion, validation, and reporting workflows.
Use APIs and integration tools to connect policy systems, AIR Verisk Touchstone, databases, and slip reading tools.
Promote and support the adoption of AI/Machine Learning as appropriate to improve data quality, validation and anomaly detection.
Skills & experience
Strong experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modelling).
Experience with SQL (query optimisation, joins, stored procedures).
Proficiency in Python (for data processing, automation, APIs, and AI/ML use cases).
Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, Talend, SSIS).
Familiarity with API integrations (REST, JSON).
Understanding of cloud data environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Exposure to AIR Verisk or other catastrophe modelling platforms (e.g. RMS).
Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries and metadata management.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field such as Coding, Mathematics, Risk, Insurance, or Actuarial Science.
4–10 years of experience in exposure management, cat modelling, or insurance analytics.
Understanding of the underwriting processes and working knowledge of the Lloyd’s and London Market and advantage.
Skilled in data manipulation and analysis using Python or SQL; Power BI or similar tools a plus.
Good communication skills, with ability to explain technical results to non-technical users.
Self-motivated with attention to detail.
Comfortable working under deadlines and adjusting analysis for evolving business questions.
