The role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual for a placement across our Actuarial teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their actuarial skills and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment. During the placement, you will support one or more actuarial functions including pricing, capital modeling, and portfolio management.
This role will use actuarial, statistical and data analytical techniques to help build and maintain the models within these teams. The analyst will work closely with pricing actuaries, modelers, and underwriters and report to an Actuarial Manager.
Key accountabilities
Provide modelling support to the Actuaries and underwriters across a broad range of insurance and reinsurance
Work with the Actuaries to develop and implement modelling solutions.
Assist in monitoring of aggregations of risk and contribute to risk
Contribute to ongoing enhancement of pricing, capital modelling or portfolio management
Communicate conclusions effectively to underwriters and
Assist with Data cleansing and analysis as an input for the models
Continuously improve analysis to ensure that model output for management Information is produced efficiently and accurately
Skills & experience
Strong intellectual and mathematical acumen, demonstrated by excellent academic results
High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritise own work against needs of business
Strong critical thinking and ability to interrogate data successfully and provide challenge when required
Ability to work effectively both independently and within teams
Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines
Strong Excel skills and interest in enhanced data techniques/software such as Power Query and Python – Beneficial but not compulsory
Ability to develop and maintain SQL procedures - Beneficial but not compulsory
